Shared Ownership West Midlands

West Midlands is a metropolitan county made up of seven county boroughs: the City of Birmingham, the City of Coventry, and the City of Wolverhampton, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, and Walsall. It is an area located in the centre of England, bordered by Warwickshire, Worcestershire and Staffordshire. It is one of England's most urbanised areas, which has a large population of nearly three million people, having long been important centres of commerce and industry. Coventry is one such centre with its prosperity built upon wool and cloth manufacture, whilst Birmingham and Wolverhampton have a tradition of metal working industries.

In the present day Birmingham has many attractions, such as the famous Bullring Shopping Centre, Sea Life Centre and various museums and galleries, whist Dudley boasts a zoo and castle! For those chocaholics a visit to Cadbury World, located in Bournville, is a must for the whole family. By contrast, those seeking a gentler pace of life, the area has much to offer the visitor and resident alike, having many pockets of green spaces, rivers and hills in which to explore the great outdoors.

For exploration further afield, the area has a great transport network serviced by Birmingham Airport and National Express coaches. Birmingham is a major hub of Britain's rail network, with the main station, New Street, carrying more extensive services to London Euston whilst Snow Hill and Moor Street carry significantly fewer services, but include a superior service from London Marylebone station. As for road, the area is surrounded by motorways M42, M5, M6 including the infamous 'spaghetti junction'. For a quieter pace, the canal network offers the narrowboat enthusiast a great way to explore the 'Worcester and Birmingham' and 'Grand Union' canals.
