Shared ownership in Cotswolds

Shared Ownership in the Cotswolds

Kate Moss has got the right idea. In between sauntering around yachts on the French Riviera, partying in London and flaunting those cheekbones on fashion shoots (yep, she’s still got it), she escapes the thrum and slips into the tiny village of Little Farringdon in the Cotswolds. If only the rest of us could have a huge country pile as a second home. Then again, you could just live here full time, amongst the honey-coloured villages, the thatched cottages and the rolling hills with dazzling fields of rapeseed.

Covering six counties, the Cotswolds was designated an Area of Outstanding Beauty in 1966 - and it’s easy to get out and explore all this rural loveliness, whether biking or hiking or boating on glassy lakes where you can cool off for wild swims when the temperature turns up. Ok, so you do get the tourists… but this bountiful region is no trap and it means the foodie and hotel scenes are firing on all cylinders. It’s no coincidence Nick Jones – the enterprising founder of the Soho House Group – zoned in on the Cotswolds for his countryside debut. Ever since Soho Farmhouse landed in Oxfordshire, it’s been pulling in the stars and the London glitterati. So there are starry hotels to nip into for a drink and mingle; there are grand spas for serious downtime; and there are Michelin-star restaurants and unpretentious country pubs to feed and excite hungry locals. Transport-wise, there are main rail stations with connections across the UK from Cam and Dursley, Cheltenham, Gloucester, Kemble (serving Cirencester), Moreton-in-Marsh, Stonehouse, Stroud and Ashchurch. There’s a comprehensive road network with the access to the M4, M5 and M40. And for flights, Birmingham and Bristol airports are just over an hour and a half away. If it’s good enough for Kate Moss and the Soho House crew…

One of the best places to live in UK

Don’t let the starry residents put you off. You might not be able to cough up the cash for one those whizz-bangers of a place that stirs the celebs. But you can find desirable homes to buy in the Cotswolds. Go down the shared ownership route and your buying options are seriously elevated. What’s on the market? There’s the Fairacre Collection in the market town of Witney – said to be one of the best places to live in the UK, according to the Sunday Times. Many of the new homes are crafted with that distinguishable Cotswolds brick, and inside they’re bright and modern, with excellent facilities on your doorstep. The development is also a short drive from Oxford. In the lively town of Chipping Norton, meanwhile, the in-the-making the Pillars is an exciting development that’s garnering huge interest from investors. It’s surrounded by verdant fields, and the new properties – two-, three- and four-bedroom homes – all promise a signature level of luxury with plenty of practical details and storage. So what are you waiting for? A shared ownership home could be yours. Register your interest now for more details.
